Targeted Goal Kick

Exercise procedure

Distance isn’t that important when it comes to goal kicks – accuracy is what counts. That’s exactly what we’re going to practise in this exercise. The animation clearly shows what we’re trying to achieve.


Mark out four target sections of field. Before the kick, the coach calls out the number of the target section to the goalkeeper. The kick lands exactly in the section indicated by the coach.

Materials required: An adequate supply of balls for the goalkeeper; four target sections marked out with cone markers or discs.

Field size: Size of target sections and distance depending on ability.
